Marion Henke born in Amsterdam in 1951, is a successful painter who started her artistic career at the "Gerrit Rietveld" School of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1966 to 1971.
After finishing her studies she moved to Spain where she

married dutch Graphic designer Onno Henke.
They lived together for several years on a Catalan farm in the Pyrenees where she started full time painting whilst attending the Olot School of Fine Arts.
In the mid seventies they moved further south and started a new life in a new area; the province of Alicante.
Here they set up a design studio just outside Benidorm. In this period they had two children and some years later Marion started teaching art at the British school in Alfaz del Pi. As well as the teaching Marion managed to carry out many portrait commissions for the international community in the Costa Blanca area, in the Netherlands and for the high society circle of Madrid.

The early nineties became a breakthrough when Marion Henke founded her own art school in their country house in the village of Bolulla. Together with her husband they re-designed and enlarged the house with six extra guest rooms and started residential art courses under the name "Atelier Capelletes".
In a short time the courses were becoming more and more popular, first in the Netherlands and later in the UK where the courses were even shown on TV, in a Channel Four production.
At the end of the decade the courses were going so well that the size of the country house was limiting the natural growth of the business. After several successful exhibitions of Henke's works on the Costa Blanca, as well as being shown on Spanish television, she decided to reduce her time involved in teaching and to invest maximum time in her own artistic development.
In 2002 they moved the courses down to southern Spain; the beautiful inlands of the Málaga province, in the heart of the "Serranía de Ronda" where they found the most perfect location in the "white village" of Benarrabá. In the local rural hotel she opened her own art gallery and studio.

Movement and colours or colours and movement, strong shapes and contrasts which make her work highly expressive.
Using mostly the technique of palet-knife, it gives her paintings their very own style.
Interested as she is in the diversity of life, her variety of subjects has no limitation and she creates in a high professional standard landscapes, portraits, still-life or semi abstracts, mostly in oils, acrylics, or mixed media.
